Licensee Patent Protection in One of the World’s Busiest Shipping Ports
CINCINNATI, OH, USA –- November 09, 2013 – Bacterial Robotics, a life science biotechnology firm announced the publication of its Improved Microbial Fuel Cell patent application by the 香港特別行政區政府知識產權署專利註冊處 (Patents Registry, Intellectual Property Department, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region), 專利註冊紀錄冊 (Register of Patents), on 18 October 2013.
Traditional microbial fuel cells seek to generate electricity. However, they fall short in both power density and robustness for industrial use. The invention within this patent filing overcomes these bottlenecks. The breakthroughs are due to the development of BactoBots™ or organism-based microscopic robots.

With this key application in place, the Bacterial Robotics subsidiary, Pilus Energy, licensing model for the first wastewater-to-value BactoBots, known as RemediBots™ and GalvaniBots™ is significantly strengthened.
Along with global patent filings, the Company’s consumable genetics rights management (GeRM™) key system directly protects the BactoBots from release and theft. The GeRM keys must be present in the feedstock in order for the BactoBots to activate and conduct activities. If the GeRM keys are absent, the BactoBots self-destruct. This allows the local market licensees to offer BactoBots, and GeRM keys to their end-user customers.
